Sau thành công của 2 phiên bản Borderlands trước đó, 2K Games tiếp tục cùng đội ngũ phát triển Gearbox Software chính thức lên tiếng xác nhận phiên bản tiếp theo của dòng Game này mang tên Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! với nhiều cải tiến đáng giá.
Phiên bản The Pre-Sequel! lần này sẽ thay đổi hoàn toàn bối cảnh chính và các lớp nhân vật của Game. Người chơi sẽ được chiến đấu trên mặt trăng của Pandora vào khoảng giữa các sự kiện trong Game ở 2 phiên bản trước đó. 4 lớp nhân vật hoàn toàn mới sẽ Athena The Gladiator, Wilhelm The Enforcer, Nisha The Lawbringer và Claptrap. Tuy đồ họa và Gameplay không thay đổi nhiều nhưng 2K Games vẫn sẽ đem đến nhiều cải tiến hứa hẹn trong Gameplay để mang lại cảm giác mới lạ cho người chơi.
