Hitman: Sniper Challenge vốn là 1 chế độ chơi trong phiên bản Hitman: Absolution đang được phát triển. Nhưng vì 1 số lý do khách quan, IO Interactive đã quyết định tách Hitman: Sniper Challenge thành 1 tựa game độc lập. Vì lẽ đó, nó cũng không có 1 cốt truyện thật sự rõ ràng.
